Our web design process

Why do I build with WordPress?

It’s a powerful platform. It’s versatile, stable, fast and incredibly well supported by a growing open source community, which means it’s unlikely to go out of date any time soon.

What do I build?

I design sites to be responsive so they’ll display beautifully on devices of any size. Good job too, as just over half of web traffic is now initiated on mobile devices.

With your WordPress website I’ll set up the following, as standard:

  • Search engine optimisation tools
  • Site caching and minification for super fast site loading. Your users will love you, as will search engines.
  • Rock-solid website security. This is especially important for e-commerce sites. You can get SSL certificates for free with an additional hosting plan.
  • Google Analytics to help you track where visitors come from and what they do on your site
  • On-website spam protection

I also have great experience building ecommerce websites using WooCommerce.

A web designer's cost can vary greatly depending on factors such as their level of experience, the complexity of the project, and the specific services required. On average, you can expect to pay anywhere between £500 for a basic website and over £5,000 for a custom, high-quality design. Should I pay for a web designer?

Absolutely! But you expected me to say that, right? Seriously though, a professional web designer can bring expertise, creativity, and technical know-how to your project, helping you create a website that not only looks great but also functions optimally. A well-designed website can improve user experience, enhance your brand image, and drive business growth. While there are free website builders available, they often lack the customization, functionality, and support you'll find when working with a dedicated web designer.

Can I hire someone to design my website?

Yes, you can hire a web designer to create a bespoke website tailored to your business needs. When choosing a web designer, look for someone with a strong portfolio, positive client testimonials, and a clear understanding of your industry. How long is a piece of string? The time it takes to design a website depends on the project's complexity, the designer's availability, and the level of client involvement. How can I ensure my website is search engine friendly?

A professional web designer will incorporate search engine optimization (SEO) best practices throughout the design process. This includes proper use of headings, image optimization, mobile responsiveness, and fast loading times. Additionally, they'll ensure your website is structured in a way that makes it easy for search engine bots to crawl and index. To maintain and improve your website's search engine rankings, it's essential to regularly update content and follow SEO guidelines.

What is the process of working with a web designer?

The web design process typically begins with an initial consultation, where the designer will learn about your business goals, target audience, and design preferences. They'll then create a project proposal outlining the scope of work, timeline, and costs. Once the proposal is approved, the designer will begin the design phase, which includes creating wireframes and mockups for your review. After incorporating your feedback, they'll move on to the development phase, where the website is built and tested for functionality and responsiveness. Finally, after thorough testing and your final approval, the website is launched and ready for your audience to explore.
